The Penang Badminton Association’s (PBA) Centennial Celebration, which will be held on 22 November at the SPICE Convention Centre, has entered its final countdown.(中文往下)
State Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports and Health, YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, paid a visit to the venue yesterday to inspect the preparations and to show his support for the organising team.
PBA President Dato’ Kah Kau Kiak and members of the organising committee welcomed YB Daniel Gooi at SPICE and briefed him on the ongoing preparations. Both parties discussed various logistical and event details, with a shared commitment to ensuring that the grand celebration will highlight Penang’s badminton excellence on the international stage.
YB Daniel Gooi expressed satisfaction with the progress and commended Dato’ Kah for his hands-on leadership and the committee’s collective dedication to making this once-in-a-century event a resounding success.
“The Penang State Government will give its full support to PBA in welcoming local and international guests and badminton stars. We look forward to this remarkable evening of celebration,” he said.
Dato’ Kah Kau Kiak, in turn, thanked YB Daniel Gooi for taking the time to visit and encourage the team, noting that his presence was deeply motivating.
“We are ready. The event will be a memorable and magnificent evening for the badminton community from near and far,” he said.
The Centennial Celebration will feature a grand dinner with 200 tables and an expected attendance of around 2,000 guests. A special exhibition will also be held in conjunction with the celebration, showcasing treasured memorabilia from Penang badminton greats — including Olympic, Thomas Cup, and world championship medals, rackets, and other historic items loaned by Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei, the Centennial Celebration Ambassador, and other badminton legends — allowing attendees to share in Penang’s century of badminton glory.

将于11月22日在SPICE国际会展中心盛大举行的槟州羽球总会成立百周年庆典，已进入最后倒数阶段。掌管槟州体育事务的行政议员魏子森昨日特地前往场地视察筹备进展，并为槟州羽总团队打气加油。
槟州羽总会长拿督许庆吉与筹委会成员一同在场迎接魏子森的到来，双方就庆典的各项安排进行讨论，力求以最完善的姿态呈现这一历史性盛会，让槟州羽球在国际舞台上再度闪耀光芒。
魏子森对筹备工作的进展表示满意，并赞扬许庆吉亲力亲为，带动团队齐心协力，为确保庆典尽善尽美而付出心力。
“槟州政府将全力支持槟州羽总，与主办方携手迎接来自国内外的嘉宾与羽坛巨星。我们共同期待这场百年盛会的到来。”

槟州羽总百周年庆典当晚将筵开200席，预计吸引约2000人参与。活动也将设立百年纪念展览，展示历代槟州羽球名将的珍藏战利品，包括百年庆典大使拿督斯里李宗伟及多位羽坛宿将的奥运、汤杯及世界赛奖牌、球拍等具历史意义的纪念物，让出席者共同见证槟州羽球辉煌的百年荣耀。
