Penang Badminton Association Celebrates 100 Years – Calling All Former National and State Players to “Come Home” for the Grand Reunion!

(Penang) – The Penang Badminton Association (PBA) will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, marking a historic milestone not just for Penang badminton but for Malaysian badminton as a whole.
According to PBA President Dato’ Kah Kau Kiak, the association will host a grand centennial gala dinner on November 22, 2025, at SPICE Arena, alongside a series of badminton events throughout the year.
“We warmly invite all former national and state players from Penang to come home and celebrate this historic occasion together!” he said.
A Historic Legacy in Malaysian and Global Badminton
Founded in 1925, the Penang Badminton Association is one of the oldest badminton organizations in Malaysia, even predating the establishment of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). Over the past century, PBA has nurtured countless top-tier players who have made their mark on the international stage and contributed significantly to the growth of the sport in Malaysia and beyond.
“As we commemorate this remarkable milestone, we wish to honor all the athletes, coaches, and supporters who have dedicated their efforts to Penang badminton over the years. Through this centennial celebration, we aim to showcase Penang’s legacy in badminton, foster unity among past and present players, and continue our commitment to the development of the sport,” said Dato’ Kah Kau Kiak.

He emphasized that Penang’s badminton legacy was built on the hard work, dedication, and passion of its players. The centennial celebration is more than just a gala dinner—it is a meaningful reunion where players can reconnect, reminisce, and relive their greatest moments.
“We hope this event will bring back our former national and state players to their roots, allowing them to reflect on their contributions to Penang badminton and share memories of their journey.”
The dinner will bring together past and present badminton elites in a warm and nostalgic setting, where they can relive the golden moments, share behind-the-scenes stories, and rekindle the camaraderie that once defined their careers. PBA also encourages more retired players to return to Penang and be part of this grand occasion, strengthening the community and inspiring future generations.

槟城羽球总会（Penang Badminton Association）会长拿督许庆吉说，槟羽总在今年迎来创会100週年纪念，并将在今年11月22日举办大型晚宴，这不仅是槟城羽坛的光辉时刻，更是马来西亚羽球历史上的重要里程碑。
“我们诚挚邀请退役的槟城羽球国手和州手，到时一起‘回家’同欢共庆！”
他说，为庆祝这一历史性时刻，槟州羽总特别筹办一系列赛事，并将在SPICE Arena举办盛大的百年纪念晚宴，邀请所有曾为槟城羽坛奋斗的国手、州手们回家相聚，一同见证槟城羽球荣耀的百年辉煌！
“槟城羽球总会成立于1925年，历史悠久，是马来西亚最早的羽球组织之一，甚至比世界羽联（BWF）还早成立。百年来，该会不仅培养出许多蜚声国际的羽坛名将，也为推动羽球运动发展、促进社会凝聚力和体育交流作出卓越贡献。为了纪念这一非凡成就，槟州羽总将透过百年庆典，向所有曾为槟城羽球付出心血的运动员、教练及支持者们致敬。”
